"The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.” (Judges 6:14-16)
Walk-Line: When we as pastor's and Christian leaders become discouraged in the path of ministry, God has called us to, we need to reread the story of Gideon and the nation of Israel's victory over the Midianites. The overview is that the Midianite army amounted to a huge number of 135,000 men. This compared to what Gideon gathered together of 32,000 Israelites. When we read the story, we find that God wanted Gideon to reduce his number to 300 men. What is God trying to say to us today, in regards to God's instruction to Gideon? God was saying that:
The victory would not be achieved through sheer numbers or human strength, but through complete reliance on the power of God. How dependent are we on God, as we live this life God has called us to? Or in the ministry He wants us to be involved in, to further His Kingdom? Little Gideon, found out, that His almighty God, was able, and willing to bring about a huge victory. Guess what? He can do the same for us! GP
But with God's faithful presence,
