Why Should We Glorify God?

The Christian Journeyman Walk-Line
Why Should We Glorify God?

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.""Whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."
(1 Corinthians 10:31, 1 Peter 4:11)

Walk-Line: What about this "glorifying God in all things?" "Why do I have to worry about that?" Why can't I just do what I want to, in my life?" Now that I have become a Christian, can't I enjoy my freedom in Christ? Yes, we can enjoy our freedom in Christ, but there are two things we must keep in mind.
1. The Priority of our freedom: What did Jesus free us from? He freed us from sin.(Romans 6:7-8) He freed us from ourselves. (Galatians 5:13) So the priority of our freedom is to realize that since we are free from sin, and ourselves, we are to determine to not place ourselves in bondage to these en slavers again.
2. The purpose of our freedom. In everything we do as Christians, we are to bring glory to God. Is it asking too much to praise our gracious God, who in His love for us, saved us from the gates of hell? Isn't it our purpose in all that we do, to magnify the Lord instead ourselves. I see too much pride and arrogance in Christians today, and too little concern for living for God and for others. Our purpose is to bring glory to God in all that we say and do. And serving others falls into the purpose for which God has called us.
Humility is the key. Now as Christians, it's not about us. It's about how we can show forth praise to our God, and how we can serve others on behalf of Him. GP

Why should we glorify God?
Why should this concern a Christian like me?
Could it be because of His great love,
and His willingness to set us free!
