How High Did You Go?

How High Did You Go?

"And keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn. (1 Kings 2:3)

Walk-Line: John Conlee recorded a song entitled: "How High Did You Go." It is a song that tells a story of a boy named Billy, who as a child tried to jump a ditch with his bicycle. And later as an adult, tried to make it big in Country Music. Both times he was asked the question: "How High Did You Go?"

Isn't this the question that is on the mind of a lot of people these days. "How high can we go to gain success, material wealth, power, prestige, etc. The chorus of the song goes:
"So to all you big dreamers and disheartened schemers
who find yourselves back in the hole.
Skip all the low points, and tell us, how high did you go?
All we want to know is how high did you go?"

In our text David tells his son Solomon, the key to success. The key to reaching the height of God's blessings in our lives is to Keep God's charge (His will) always before us. Walk in His ways, keeping His statutes, His commandments, His rules, and testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses. And the promise is, that we will prosper in all that we do, and wherever we turn. We will soar high above the worldly pursuits, and fly high in the blessings of God. How high can we go? To heights we never thought possible! GP

How high can we go in our own pursuits?
Can we be certain what our landing will be?
But in the powerful arms of our awesome God,
We can fly higher, not just today, but for all eternity! ___g/Patterson
