The Blessings Of Obedience

The Blessings Of Obedience

"If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country." (Deuteronomy 28:1-3)

Walk-Line: In 1999 John F. Kennedy Jr. flew his small airplane from New York City to his family home in Massachusetts for a wedding. On board were his wife Carolyn and her sister. Though Kennedy was a licensed pilot, he had not yet been approved for instrument flight (using only instruments to navigate). When their takeoff was delayed until after dark, Kennedy should have waited for daylight or sought a more experienced pilot to help. Yet, Kennedy took off into the darkness. The plane never reached its destination, and all three passengers were killed in the crash. (Ministry 127/Obedience)

When we choose to do our own thing, instead of obeying the will of God, that is when we get into trouble. How many times have we done that? For me? Too many to count. If we are obedient to God, in what He tells us to do in His Word; that is when we position ourselves to receive God's blessings. The greatest blessing is that of peace in our hearts and souls. When we receive the right direction, when we follow the right path, when we treat people the way God instructs us to, from His Word; this is when we will feel the blessed peace of God, along with all the wonderful blessings He offers. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey
