The Right Approach & Response
"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" which is the first commandment with promise. "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth. And you, fathers do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:1-4)
Walk-Line: The right approach and the right response is necessary in maintaining a sold relationship between parents and children.
The apostle Paul addresses the fathers, who have the responsibility for the spiritual and physical life of the family. The approach of fathers/parents is not to provoke our children to anger and resentment. But we are to bring our children up in the training and admonition of the Lord. The response of children is to honor and obey their parents. This is one of the Ten Commandments, and this one comes with a promise. A promise of long life on the earth. Without a doubt, children who abide by the training and encouragement of the Word of God, will make right decisions, and develop a faith, hope, and love, that are marks of a mature Christian. And a good and long life is the reward of such a constant godly pursuit.
A father must know, what goes on in the life of his child.
He must look through their eyes, walk in their shoes,
and share in their burdens and trials.
And children must honor and respect their parents,
and walk in the way in which they lead.
It must be a blessed exchange of love, and care,
that both parents and children need.
