“Where Will We Be?”

One of the most sobering statements Jesus ever made comes from Matthew 25:46: “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.” With one sentence, Jesus draws a line that cannot be erased. He does not say that everyone goes to the same place. He does not say that everyone eventually ends up in heaven. He does not leave eternity open to personal interpretation or wishful thinking. Instead, He declares that two destinations exist, and every person goes to one of them. This is the most direct answer to the question that every human being must face: It’s not simply that we will be after death — but where will we be?

Scripture never treats eternity as vague or symbolic. It speaks of real places, real destinies, and real consequences. Jesus describes everlasting punishment for those who reject Him, and everlasting life for those who belong to Him. There is no middle ground, no third option, no spiritual “neutral zone.” Eternity is fixed, and the path to each destination is clearly marked. The righteous enter life eternal not because of their own goodness, but because they have trusted the Savior who gave His life for them. Those who refuse Him, or simply neglect Him, step into an eternity without Him.

This is why the question matters so deeply. Life is brief, but eternity is long. Every heartbeat moves us closer to the moment when our destination becomes permanent. Jesus offers life, hope, forgiveness, and a home prepared for those who believe. The choice is ours, but the consequences are eternal. So we must ask — and answer — the question Scripture places before us: Where will we be?

Where will we be, when this life is done?
How serious do you take this question?
Has your eternal preparation begun?
Maybe you believe that this life is all?
But Jesus tells us, that heaven or hell is the two destinations that will finally come to call.
Why not trust in Jesus, to save and to set us free.
And our destination will be heaven,
where eternal joy and peace awaits you and me.
