The Purpose For Perseverance

The Purpose For Perseverance

"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."
(Romans 5:3-4)

Walk-Line:
One of the challenges of life, is enduring the trials of life. As I write this, I am working at enduring the plagues of cancer. So many people have battled this, and have dealt with severe heartache and pain, and yes death. It's hard to do what the apostle Paul shares with us in our text. How do we glory in our sufferings? If anything, it lends itself to anxiety, depression, and a lashing out at people, and especially God. Why are we going through this? Why did this have to happen to me? But Paul explains that our suffering will produce perseverance. Perseverance is the act of continuing with something despite difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement. And in so doing, we develop good, solid character. We become people with a strong, solid faith in the Lord, and in embracing Him, and His strength, and future promises, we come to have hope for the future. There are times, when trials bring us closer to the Lord, and help us to become the people He wants us to be. GP

Why must we suffer so severely in life?
How can we meet the call to endure?
God wants us to develop a faith, and a hope.
In His strength, we can persevere.
