Without Faith
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)
Faith is a cornerstone of Christian belief, and the Bible emphasizes its importance in numerous passages. Here are some key insights:
Faith is essential to pleasing God
Hebrews 11:6 states, "Without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Faith is the foundation of a believer’s relationship with God. All through the Bible God has expected man-kind to show faith in Him. For salvation, as well as in dealing with our daily trials. God wants to take care of us, and He wants us to take Him at His word, that He will do just that. Not only for today, but for all eternity.
Faith leads to salvation
Ephesians 2:8-9 declares, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." This highlights that salvation is a gift received through faith, not by human effort. When someone gives us a gift, we in faith, reach out and receive it. There are no works involved. There is just God's Grace (the gift) and there is our faith (the reaching out to receive it.)
Faith strengthens believers in trials
James 1:3 teaches, "Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." Faith helps believers endure hardships and grow spiritually. In 1 Peter 1:7 Peter says: "These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." Yes, trials are a test of the genuineness of our faith--which the most precious possession we have. It is faith that will get us to heaven, and it is faith that will get us through the toughest trials. When you climb on a chair to reach for something, you put your faith in that chair to hold you, while you obtain the object you are after. Our faith depends on the strength and faithfulness of the object we are trusting in. There is no better foundation, than to stand on the principles, promises, and providence of God!
Faith moves God to act
Mark 2:5 recounts how Jesus healed a paralytic after seeing the faith of his friends. This demonstrates that faith, rather than fear or doubt, is what moves God. The woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment, believed that if she did that, she would be healed. And after she touched His garment, Jesus felt the healing power leave Him, and this woman who had suffered for many years, was healed. God is the rewarder of all those who seek Him, and trust Him with their whole lives.
Faith is a way of life
2 Corinthians 5:7 instructs believers to "walk by faith, not by sight."This means trusting in God's guidance even when circumstances seem uncertain. "A young girl, unaccustomed to traveling, was taking a train ride through the country, and it happened that in the course of the day her train was obliged to cross two branches of a river and several wide streams. The water seen in advance always awakened doubts and fears in the child. She did not understand how it could safely be crossed. As they drew near the river, however, a bridge appeared, and furnished a way over. Two or three times the experience was repeated, and finally the child leaned back with a long breath of relief and confidence." (Ministry 127-Faith)
The Bible is filled with examples of faith, from Abraham’s trust in God’s promises to Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt. Faith is not just belief—it’s an active trust in God that shapes every aspect of life.
and the assurance about what we do not see."
Faith is necessary in our relationship with God,
It is the key to our future, which we cannot see.
