Once We Were A Family

I want to share a poem that I wrote this last weekend (4/6/2025) entitled: 
"We Once Were A Family." 
As the Church, we are the family of God. 
John 1:12-13 says: 
"But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."
When did we stop acting like we were the family of God? It happens in some churches, as well as in some families. 
Because of selfishness, arrogance, resentment, unforgiveness, we distance ourselves from each other. What are the keys to being the family God wants us to be? Read my poem, and use these keys to unlock the door of divisiveness, and be God's family again!

WE ONCE WERE A FAMILY
We once were a family
But the time has been so long.
We used to sing together,
But it seems we have lost our song
We once were a family,
But resentment has torn us apart.
Selfish expectations have divided us, 
Discouragement has darkened our hearts.
We once were a family,
Can we be a family again?
Only if we submit to the Lord,
And let Him change us within.
Yes we can be a family.
We can reunite our hearts again.
With effort on the part of each of us,
And with God's help, We can,
Be A family again! GP
