Be Still, And Know

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!" (Psalm 46:10)

Walk-Line: Stillness is not natural in a world that runs on noise, urgency, and constant motion. Yet Psalm 46:10 cuts through all that activity with a clear and commanding reminder: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” In those few words, God invites us to step out of the swirl of our schedules, worries, and responsibilities, and into the quiet awareness of His presence. Stillness is not inactivity—it is intentional recognition of the One who holds all things together.

In our very busy lives, do we take time to realize the presence of God? That question sits at the heart of the walk-line. We move from moment to moment—good moments that lift our spirits, bad moments that shake our confidence, and ugly moments that leave us wondering what God is doing. Yet in all of them, God is present, working, guiding, sustaining. The problem is not His absence; it is our inability to slow down long enough to notice Him. When excitement stirs us too quickly, or anxiety churns too loudly, our spiritual vision blurs. We miss the quiet fingerprints of God on our circumstances.

Stillness is the remedy. It is the deliberate pause that allows us to see the person and power of God. When we quiet our hearts, we begin to recognize His sovereignty over nations, His authority over the earth, and His faithfulness in our personal lives. Stillness reminds us that God is not distant—He is active, present, and worthy of trust. In every season, He calls us to stop striving, stop stirring, and simply know Him. That is where peace begins. When I am anxious about the trouble in my world. God speaks to my Spirit, to watch and wait and view His mighty power.
